Welsh Athletics focussed its communications activity around raising the profile of its athletes, ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The brief? To raise awareness of Commonwealth Games athletes in the build-up to Birmingham.
What I did:
- Interviewed around 15 athletes and developed human interest features and media angles
- Pitched to a wide range of media in Wales and beyond
Successes:
- More than 116 pieces of media coverage
- Set up two guests for the Daily Express #SheCan vodcast
- Secured comprehensive coverage across Wales’ media outlets including Wales Online, ITV Wales, Heno, Newyddion, BBC Wales (TV, radio and online), The National as well as local media
- Maximised newspapers on the Wales/England border as well as regional BBC local radio such as Radio Shropshire, Radio West Midlands and Radio Hereford & Worcester
- Successfully pitched to lifestyle media
